I’m 60. I’m a caregiver. And I know what sandpaper skin feels like.

During my hospital stay years ago, my skin turned rough and dry, like sandpaper. It took work, consistent facials, treatments, real effort, to get it back.

Then during the hardest stretch of caring for my dad, my skin broke out. I was so focused on him, I wasn’t paying attention to what it was costing me.

I’ve always strived to take care of my skin, to keep it looking healthy, and yes, a little youthful too; however this season has tested that in ways I didn’t expect.

If your skin has been telling on you lately, breaking out, rough, tired, I don’t think that’s just aging. I think it’s a sign of everything you’ve been carrying.

I’ll be sharing what I began using because of the results I’ve seen. Comment LIST and you’ll be one of the first to know!

Caregiving means I’m usually the one holding everything together. The one everyone calls. The one giving from a cup that doesn’t always get refilled.
This weekend I made a choice. I surrounded myself with people who are positive, driven, and genuinely lifting each other up instead of draining each other. I stayed somewhere beautiful and let myself enjoy it, no guilt attached.
In the middle of it, I got a note from someone I look up to. Just a few words, but they landed exactly when I needed them. That’s what this community does. People show up for you before you even ask.
I sat in rooms learning from some of the best and brightest in this space, soaking it in, feeling like I still have so much to grow into.
It’s not extra. It’s necessary. I can’t keep giving to everyone else if I’m not filling my own cup too.
I’m so grateful to be a part of something where I feel this connected and loved. I brought something back with me. More soon.
In the meantime, how do you keep your cup filled?

A stranger’s box ended up in my car recently because the mom is starting to lose her memory.
In the middle of a small mix-up, the daughter looked at me with tears in her eyes and told me what that season has been like.
I recognized that look since I’m in it too, caring for my dad from a distance.
If you’re in that season right now, whether it just started or you’ve been in it a while, you’re not alone.! I started a Facebook group for women walking this exact road and I’d love to have you join us! Click the link in my bio.👆🏻
